Full time contract to direct opportunity in Van Buren for a Test Technician working with Engines.
1st shift
Looking for an individual that enjoys getting their hands dirty; someone who has a passion for cars; willing & eager to learn
$25-30/hr

Position Summary:
Performs all aspects of test operations under the supervision of engineers including build, set up, test plan execution, and data collection of developmental engines, transmissions and vehicles ranging from simple to complex technology. Knowledge of emissions equipment preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Selects, installs, calibrates, and checks sensing and data acquisition equipment
  • Assists in the troubleshooting of test cell and test electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanicals
  • Create process documentation detailing any unique areas of test cell operation
  • Sets up test cells for engines, transmissions, and vehicles by modifying and/or fabricating certain transmission, engine, and vehicle components for test
  • Monitors critical functions of engines and equipment while operating test cells
  • Records or coordinates the recording of test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method
  • Performs preliminary analysis of results
  • Suggests new process improvements
  • Responsible for the quality of measurement and test system data results
  • Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
  • Contributes to planning own activities on a project and monitoring/controlling costs, while working within engineering principles and company specifications and practices regarding calculations and other variables affecting test results
  • Delivers superior levels of customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Duties are not limited to those stated above but are inclusive of any tasks assigned by supervisor/manager.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), plus technical training such as trade school, apprenticeship, or associate degree
  • 2 + years hands-on experience in automotive testing
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with gasoline, alt fuel, and diesel engine test cell setups
  • Familiarity with standardized test cycles and 1065 regulations
  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Must be self-motivated and possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail while multitasking
  • Must have personal tools, (general mechanics hand tools)
