About the Role
The Vendor Manager II is a key player in our organization, responsible for managing vendor portfolios and relationships across assigned business units. This role acts as a trusted advisor, leading sourcing, selection, negotiations, contracting, and governance activities with a focus on delivering improved vendor performance, competitive costs, balanced risk, and enhanced alignment.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly reviews with business units, sharing industry insights and plans for vendor activity.
- Facilitate upfront engagement for ongoing renewals and new agreements.
- Conduct annual vendor portfolio reviews, covering volume, financials, plans, issues, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead lifecycle activities for vendor portfolio agreements, including renewals, amendments, and new contracts.
- Lead sourcing and selection activities, including RFx processes or direct negotiations.
- Lead commercial negotiations, leveraging industry pricing and advisement to achieve competitive pricing.
- Facilitate legal, finance, and executive management approvals for agreements.
- Direct formal governance frameworks to drive improvement in vendor performance, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Conduct regular governance performance sessions with vendors, reviewing scorecards and identifying performance gaps.
- Own all aspects of vendor relationships to ensure contractual obligations and business partner expectations are met.
- Lead vendor escalations and resolution of disputes, resolving contractual and pricing issues.
- Develop and execute cost model optimization strategies, including alternative sourcing and vendor rationalization.
- Provide vendor management support for corporate and business unit projects.
- Support the optimization of vendor management frameworks, processes, data, systems, reporting, and analytics.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, IT, Supply Chain Management, or a related field plus 7-10 years of experience with top-tier enterprise vendors.
- In lieu of a degree, 10-15 years of experience in a related field, with at least 7 years working with top-tier enterprise vendors.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex negotiations for agreements with top-tier vendors.
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships, influence, and execute in all facets of vendor management.
- Project leadership experience, managing projects from inception to completion.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and think strategically.
- Data analysis skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience executing strategic bids and negotiations, delivering cost efficiencies and value.
- Ability to manage complex bid processes and major negotiations.
