Pay Range for this position is: $164,000-$230,000 plus annual bonus, depending on experience.




POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Director of Logistics will be responsible for developing and implementing the Lassonde logistics strategy while adopting a lean and data-driven approach aimed at optimizing the customer experience and maximizing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate demonstrates great leadership and has a proven track record for developing innovative logistics solutions to service evolving customer needs. The successful candidate will work closely and collaboratively with various supporting teams (Planning, Customer Operations, and Sales). 

This position reports to the Vice President, of North American Logistics and is based out of our Cherry Hill, New Jersey location.

 


Primary Responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage all aspects of transportation which includes relationships with freight partners.
  • Improve the general efficiency of operations
  • Improve and standardize our transport processes in collaboration with all the departments concerned.
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement in transportation. 
  • Monitor and report on transportation markets and effect on business; identify strategy to mitigate costs and improve service.
  • Monitor carrier performances to maximize supply chain efficiency and sustainability.
  • Optimize outbound shipping activities, and supports the continuous development of the system to improve operating efficiencies and cost effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain a network of external partners to support our mission.
  • Ensure cost effective transportation services are established for the smooth, uninterrupted and on time transit flow of inbound and outbound freight.
  • Lead the implementation of new operating methodologies that optimize both customer service and economic results.
  • Continuously identify, evaluate, and implement operational and strategic improvements to support efficient operations, and corporate priorities.
  • Have full budget accountability over all transportation spend and performance.
  • Develop, maintain and explain key performance indicators and deploy corrective actions when necessary.
  • Act as a leader in change management and standardization of operating processes.
  • Develop excellent relationships with all internal departments to promote the exchange of information while showing leadership in the face of organizational issues.
  • Lead a team of skilled individuals and inspire them to new levels of performance.
  • Define technological requirements to support process improvement and automation.
  • Provide consistent communications and performance reporting for the executive team and all stakeholders.

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

 

  • B.S degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • 8+ years of supply chain leadership experience in the food and beverage industry.
  • Procurement in Transportation - Formalized experience putting together procurement strategies to drive below/at market rates.  Expert level negotiating skills needed, not a core-competency today (previously not as critical when Transplace was 3PL).
  • Financial acumen/understanding - Role needs to not rely so heavily on finance to come up with solutions, provide financial insights and analytics. 
  • Continuous Improvement trained - Needs to have some level of formalized training in Lean Supply Chain methodologies, ability to lead project teams and show proven ability to drive results, process driven and builds SOP's to ensure sustainable levels of high performance.
  • Tech-Savvy - Understanding of transportation systems and broader solutions, knowledgeable and skilled in use. Can use skills to drive “best-in-class” practices.  Some of these tools include: TMS, Visibility, Market Intelligence, AI Procurement.
  • Strong Communicator- Has the ability to communicate and influence internal and experience stakeholders at all levels, but in particular high-level stakeholders, form partnership to drive logistics/supply chain agenda forward.  Prefer customer-facing experience.
  • Experience of leading and delivering major systemic change within a logistics network.
  • Strong information gathering, attention to detail and root cause analysis background.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing new 3PL arrangements and managing third-party relations, cost and performance.

  • Thorough understanding of 3PL warehousing and fulfillment operations and commercial relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of logistics related software and technology systems such as WMS and TMS.
  • In-depth understanding of international logistics, providers and best practices.
  • Ability to question, challenge and drive change.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

 

OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20 – 35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

 

VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

 

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
