Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern who is on track to complete their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and will begin their senior year in Fall 2025. The intern will support the design, development, and testing of key engineering fixtures and validation processes. They will work on designing and building a vacuum testing fixture, developing a temperature testing fixture, assisting with design validation, and improving the cable drawing process. Responsibilities include CAD modeling, creating engineering drawings, sourcing components, assembling and testing prototypes, analyzing test data, and iterating on designs. This hands-on role offers valuable experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and data analysis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
  • Carry out basic work instructions that will help in understanding the fundamentals of the Company and also learn new things
  • Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers
  • Complete assigned tasks on time
  • Gather and assemble data for engineers
  • May be required to help in research in a particular field
  • Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers
  • Assist engineers with appropriate design details
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Rising College Senior pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Will be a college senior in Fall 2025)
  • Must be able to commute to Germantown, Maryland - This is a fully in-person internship
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling systems (Solidworks or similar) is preferred 
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
  • Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn 

U.S. Citizenship required.

The expected pay scale for this position is $23/hour - $25/hour. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly.
