Position Summary Under general supervision: lifts and transports pediatric to geriatric patients to and from treatments, maintains department organization and equipment; under immediate supervision assists Rehab # Wellness personnel in administering treatments to patients. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Assists with clerical duties (i.e. photo copying, answering phones, checking messages). Maintains and monitors schedule for patient assistance assignment with therapy staff. Transfers patients and equipment to and from wheelchairs and carts. Communicates with nursing and therapists regarding patient#s status and assistance needed. Positions patient for treatment. Delivers equipment to patient#s room. Assists with patient care by preparing patients for treatment (dressing, gathering equipment, positioning, etc.), assists therapists and assistants during treatment sessions, and makes patient comfortable at conclusion of treatment (ice packs, positioning, environmental assessment). Answers call lights and takes appropriate actions. Cleans equipment and work area. Documents cleaning procedures performed. Completes monthly safety checks. Returns equipment to proper location for storage. Puts supplies and linens away and changes bed linens as needed. Locks and unlocks department doors at beginning and end of day. Applies CPM#s to patients according to protocol, works with social services and HME to obtain prior approval for take home CPM. Assists with hospital mobility program as able (Patient ambulation) Orders department supplies through Supply Chain and external vendors and works with facility and biomed for repairs/maintenance needs. Maintains departmental records including MDS list online and in department. Assists with departmental and hospital orientation of new employees. Qualifications, Knowledge # Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): #One year experience unlicensed direct patient care interaction. Organizational Requirements: Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements. Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. # Preferred Qualifications: Some knowledge of non-professional direct patient care techniques; of office practices and procedures. Skill in providing routine non-professional direct patient care. High School graduate or equivalent level of knowledge Hands-only CPR competency # Required Knowledge, Skills # Experience: Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for pediatric to geriatric patients. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Skill in effective oral and written communication in English. Ability to manipulate and adjust assistive devices and other medical equipment. Ability to learn and assist in the execution of department procedures. Ability to be responsive to patient needs. Ability to learn equipment set up and operation. Ability to work effectively with others.
