The UK & Ireland Bank Partnerships team works with key bank partners across the UK and Ireland. We're looking for an experienced Account Director to lead the commercial issuing relationship with our Large Market issuers.
You'll work in a dedicated Commercial team responsible for the relationship with four Large Market issuing financial institutions: working closely with colleagues within the UK&I Division and globally across Corporate Solutions Europe, Services, Customer Delivery and Care and Franchise responsible for the day-to-day management of the account plus leading business building initiatives to further deepen our relationship through products and services.
Growing B2B flows is core to Mastercard's strategic priorities and leading these customers is integral to driving our Commercial New Payment Flows.
Role
This role offers the opportunity to manage all aspects of the Mastercard Large Market Commercial relationship with four issuers from day-to-day account responsibilities to business development opportunity identification to commercialisation.
The position requires a highly self-motivated, commercially pragmatic, business developer with strong influencing and negotiating skills to partner with customers to grow their relationship with Mastercard. The individual will be responsible for taking a proactive and thought leadership role in how to drive the business forward through understanding the customer's needs and partnering with the various cross functional Mastercard teams to enable delivery of the customers vision and priorities to grow their commercial payments business.
The key responsibilities as the Director, Account Management will include:
• Lead the customer relationship with four issuers being a strategic advisor, delivering best-in-class service, insights, products and value to the customer.
• Develop a range of strong relationships across the banks your responsible for identifying opportunities for products and services to grow the partnership, with a focus on increasing volume and revenue growth.
• Deliver best-in-class account governance, including annual account planning, quarterly and annual reviews, financial performance, data and insights, and tracking incentives.
• Engage when required in operational activities, and deal with incidents and escalations as needed.
• Work with a wide range of internal teams, bringing the best of Mastercard to further build and deepen the partnership
• Show a deep understanding of market trends, regulation, technology and the competitive landscape, particularly in commercial payments, including the SME and large market sectors.
• Be an active team player within the UK & Ireland Bank Partnerships Team and Division
• Leadership of one Account Manager
All about you
• You'll have a proven track record in leading large, strategic relationships, with extensive account management experience. Knowledge of commercial solutions is highly preferred.
• You love building strong relationships, managing a range of contacts and building credibility with decision makers and influencers with partners
• You're an outstanding communicator, able to engage multiple different stakeholders. You'll be skilled at reading a room and adjusting your message accordingly.
• You'll be experienced in managing large, complex deals, monitoring financial performance, winning new business and negotiating.
• You have sound business judgment with proven financial acumen, analytical skills and data proficiency.
• You challenge the status quo, coming up with new ideas, thinking creatively and showing excellent attention to detail.
• You bring people with you: you'll secure and coordinate resources across Mastercard's organisation. You'll need to engage all parties to get to the heart of issues and opportunities, and influence and build consensus across a variety of internal and external colleagues at all levels.
• You are self-motivated, proactive, organized, and full of initiative.
