Title and Summary
Director, Accounting OverviewThe Assistant Regional Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations for Asia Pacific region. This position requires a detail-oriented and dynamic professional who can effectively manage accounting practices, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and support strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Managing statutory reporting requirements – there are more than 70 legal entities in Asia Pacific, working with external outsource providers as well as auditors to ensure country statutory obligations are met, including annual financial statements, audit management and other local reporting requirements. This includes support on tax compliance matters as well as overseeing the conversion of US to local GAAP.
• Overseeing the month-end and quarterly reporting process – working closely with Global Business Shared-Service Center (GBSC) ensure that books are closed in line with US GAAP, Mastercard accounting policies as well as providing all necessary disclosures and other quarterly reporting requirements to the corporate controllers' team as required. Additionally, undertake regular balance sheet reviews with specific focus on higher risk areas.
• Support other reporting requirements – in addition to statutory reporting requirements, provide support and guidance to other groups within Mastercard including coordinating the legal entity forecast, customer directed fund reporting and managing the APAC Controllership cost centre forecast.
• Drive process efficiencies and risk mitigation - Work with GBSC and the business to develop efficient solutions to improve financial accounting, reporting and control as well as assist in business monitoring
• Overseeing compliance to policies, controls and annual SOX certification – Liaising and coordinating with operations, Internal Auditors, CFOs, and Divisional Finance on operational and financial control matters.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting – Coordinate regulatory reporting requirements for the Controllership organization across the Asia Pacific region. Assisting with establishing financial controls and processes to comply with the constantly changing regulatory environment.
All About You
• Qualified CPA/Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification and at least 10 years relevant experience.
• Extensive experience of statutory accounting and financial reporting requirements across multiple Asia-Pacific countries
• Working knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), GAAS (Generally Accepted Auditing Standards), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) and the COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations) internal control framework
• High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including senior level business and corporate partnering across various countries and cultures.
• In addition, candidate must have demonstrated ability to lead teams of more than 5 staff on both a local and remote basis
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task
