Title and Summary
Director, Compliance OverviewMastercard Strategic Growth (MSG) seeks a Director, Compliance who will actively participate in the development and implementation of, and operationalize, the day-to-day management of a robust compliance program for the MSG business.
Role
• Develop relationships and work cross-functionally across the business, legal, regulatory, franchise and subject matter experts to identify, assess and mitigate potential Compliance risks pertaining to MSG businesses (e.g. AML, Sanctions, Licensing, government and strategic partners etc.)
• Perform comprehensive due diligence in accordance with MSG and Mastercard procedures (including identification, verification and monitoring) on prospective, new and existing: partners, alliance members, customer service providers, customers, sponsors, vendors and other ecosystem stakeholders (collectively, “MSG participants”) to ensure compliance with relevant Standards and Policies
• Provide support throughout MSG participant and product lifecycles to evaluate and mitigate potential Compliance risks
• Navigate different regulatory environments across various geographies
• Provide support in drafting/reviewing compliance provisions to mitigate potential Compliance risks in various agreements and arrangements
• Review and analyze (and continuously monitor) local laws and regulations and industry standards as they pertain to Compliance matters relevant to MSG products and MSG participants
• Support product development processes as it pertains to Compliance matters, including Compliance review and analysis of market legal scans and Compliance review and clearance of products and enhancements in Product Studio and LFI OneTrust Studio
• Work with relevant business and legal teams to develop solutions for meeting MSG participant needs and advancing MSG strategic initiatives while minimizing potential Compliance risks to Mastercard and other ecosystem participants
• Document the review and resolution process followed for each Compliance issue that arises so that a clear, auditable trail is available of decisions made and actions taken
• Create and deliver relevant, practical and actionable educational sessions designed to reinforce Mastercard's Compliance principles throughout the evolution of the business
• Provide input to Compliance Program Risk Assessments to identify potential Compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks
• Establish and maintain Compliance Program tracking and metrics to identify trends and establish action items for program preservation and enhancements; provide regular reporting to Global Mastercard Compliance
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in MSG Compliance processes and practices, leveraging technology and best practices
• Direct and oversee regular monitoring of transaction activity including handling L3 escalations with MTS.
All About You
• Demonstrated success in managing a regulatory compliance program
• Experience with Compliance program requirements (including AML, Sanctions, Licensing) and familiarity with the Bureau Van Dijk (BVD) system, Power Automate and Copilot Agents to automate manual processes
• Familiarity with MTS sanction screening process is a plus.
• Knowledge of traditional and non-traditional banking/financial operations and experience in payments-related and technology services is preferred; experience working in international development, with Governments and multi-lateral organizations in strategic growth segments and geographies is desirable
• Sound judgment with ability to build rapport and drive results at all levels
• Proven ability to work independently or as a team player and function effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment while handling multiple projects and consistently meeting deadlines
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, organizational and written/verbal communication skills; ability to influence and negotiate with senior leadership is critical
• ACAMS Certification preferred
