Title and Summary
Director Data Sourcing Overview• The Data Sources team in the Data Strategy & Management organization (AI and Data Office) is responsible for the management, acquisition, ingestion and evaluation of enterprise data and data capabilities utilized by a wide range of Mastercard product teams.
• The Director, Data Acquisition will lead the global strategy for acquiring and integrating partner and third-party data, driving the development of data products and services.

Director, Data Acquisition
Data Acquisition Strategy:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive data acquisition strategy by working with Data Strategy leads, business SMEs and stakeholders to understand their data needs and identify opportunities to gather relevant and high-quality data from external partners and data sources.
• Partner with data quality teams to establish third-party data quality standards and ensure data integrity throughout the acquisition and ingestion process.
• Provide thought leadership on appropriate cost for data and vendor strengths / weaknesses.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market trends and opportunities.
• Serve as a corporate subject matter expert on Data Acquisition to support the organization's product development and data commercialization efforts.
• Be an enterprise data acquisition and third-party data thought leader understanding data rights and usage with a commercialization focus.
• Contribute input to the continued modernization of the third-party data acquisition ecosystem including the use of modernized data processes, governance and security features, which includes integrated advanced analytics and discovery capabilities, will ultimately drive innovation and value creation for Mastercard.
• Strong understanding of data contractual negotiations.
• Present findings of data acquisition results and value to mastercard products and services to senior management.
• Develop educational material and train, as needed, on tools and processes.
Data Acquisition Execution:
• Assess, acquire, and ingest relevant third-party data from external partners and data sources to applicable cloud and on-premise systems.
• Work with technical teams to support the requirements of data pipelines to directly drive revenue-generating products.
• Execute project management regarding data acquisition timelines, data quality, and commercialization outcomes.
• In collaboration with data governance teams, develop and implement data governance policies and procedures for third-party data, including compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of data acquisition processes, including the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• As needed, work with data platforms and technology (internal and external) teams to implement best practices via global technology platforms.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to gather requirements and validate use of third party-data in their product and services constructs.
All About You
• 5-10 years of experience in data acquisition, data commercialization, or a related field.
• Advanced experience working with data products, either in acquisition, development, evaluation, pricing, and market expansion strategies.
• Strong understanding of data ecosystems, data management, and data analytics.
• Strong understanding of third-party data contracts and pricing.
• Bachelor's degree in business, data science, computer science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders about the value of data; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present complicated concepts in a clear and cogent manner.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships across the enterprise.
• Demonstrated capability to ideate and develop POCs.
• Program management experience preferred.
• Intellectual curiosity and a commercial mindset to all business solutions provided.
• Preferred understanding of emerging technologies including but not limited to cloud architecture, machine learning/AI, and data marketplaces.
• Preferred understanding of Mastercard products and systems.
• Preferred data management, data analytics, data visualization experience.
• Preferred proficiency with programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) and cloud capabilities; experience with data wrangling, data matching, and ETL techniques.
• Experience with cloud-based data storage and processing is a plus.
