Title and Summary
Director, Specialist Sales, Small Business Enterprise OverviewThe Small Business Enterprise (SME) segment team drives opportunities to grow and defend our business in a profitable and sustainable manner. Our key activities include:
Identifying and developing new business with leading partners (e.g. Payment Service Provider (PSP), Financial institutions, merchants, etc.) in the SME segment
Identify and drive strategic partnerships
Provide deep sales expertise & compelling payment solutions to our partners and power their growth
The Director, Small Business Segment, based in Hong Kong, will be part of the Commercial and New Payments Flow team which is responsible for advancing Mastercard's SME efforts in Greater China, and reports to Vice President, Small Business Segment lead, Greater China division. The individual will be responsible for working with our partners to support SME segments including VCN, prepaid, debit and credit cards performance and relevant solutions, which includes driving strategy, sales management, solution, analysis and reporting, and best practices sharing. This role will be a point of contact for Small Business sales to internal & external partners, and the individual will be partnering with the Regional Small Business organization to deliver GDV, new customers, market share and revenue objectives for the market.
Role
The key objectives of this role are to drive growth of the Small Business VCN, prepaid, debit and credit card portfolios, and achieve annual targets in terms of new wins, spend volumes, revenue and market share through the following activities:
• Drive SME Portfolio Growth: Achieve targets for new wins, spend volume, revenue, and market share.
• Strategic Sales Enablement: Develop and recommend differentiated features and benefits for payment products and programs across issuers, acquirers, fintechs, and startups.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Account Teams, Digital, Marketing, Loyalty, Finance, Pricing, Franchise, Legal, and Customer Delivery to support launches and go-to-market initiatives.
• Strategic partners Relationship Development: Strengthen strategic partners/account relationships and uncover new business opportunities through close collaboration with the Account Management team.
• Consultative Sales Leadership: Provide expert guidance during complex, cross-departmental discussions leveraging deep functional knowledge and Mastercard's assets.
• Digital Enablement Advocacy: Champion digital-first solutions (e.g., contactless, tokenization) and drive adoption with best-in-class customer experience.
• Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate product launches and enhancements to internal and external stakeholders via bulletins, briefings, and PR.
All About You
• Proven success in product/business development, preferably in payments, financial services (leading payment service providers, leading FIs), or fintech.
• Strong consultative selling and strategic thinking capabilities.
• Track record of initiating new approaches to doing business and driving implementation to deliver tangible business results
• Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated and able to operate within a cross-functional team environment
• Organizational savviness to navigate a highly matrixed organization and resilience to thrive in high pressure goal-oriented, and substantial revenue growth driven environment.
• Bachelor and above degree.
• English, Mandarin and Cantonese are mandatory
• Willingness to travel throughout the region
