Core Responsibilities:
• To oversee safety and risk management in alignment with strategies set by the Global Workplace Safety Director as it pertains to the “built environment”.
• Advocate for and support the initiatives and goals of the Global Workplace Safety and Physical Climate Risk & Resilience teams.
• Ability to lead and collaborate with an international team.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable global safety-related legislative requirements.
• Plan, direct, and implement relevant programmes to promote a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
• Collaborate with our IFM business partners and the Environmental Sustainability team relating to the IFM service being provided that comply with company policies and procedures as well as local requirements.
• Utilize EHS software to audit the global locations, identify potential workplace hazards, recommend corrective or preventive actions, assign responsibility, follow up and document to ensure proper implementation.
• Create, review, and update site-specific workplace safety records, regulatory compliance documents, Workplace Safety SharePoint, relevant guidance and policy documents, global design standards, and Capital Projects on both internal and external platforms as required.
• Ensure site facilities teams comply with legislative requirements by maintaining information, signage, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and prevent exposure to hazardous conditions.
• Create, conduct, and contribute to Workplace Safety and Climate Risk presentations and trainings as required, in accordance with local legislation and Mastercard requirements, using appropriate 3rd party vendors as appropriate.
• Monitor and coordinate responses to queries received via the Workplace Safety and Physical Climate Risk inboxes, as required.
• Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required.
Risk Management
• Attend and represent the Workplace Safety and Physical Climate Directors, at relevant Real Estate Services related meetings as required.
• Collaborate with Mastercard global security, health and safety, people and capabilities, business continuity, and other workstreams/teams as required, to ensure exchange of relevant information and adherence to appropriate standards and processes.
• Regularly review and provide recommendations with respect to site hazards, training gaps, control of contractors/vendors and management of chemicals, to enhance safety and operational practices.
• Remain current on Global safety regulations and advise on new or revised local requirements and their potential impact on business operations.
• Collaborate with relevant Mastercard workstreams, to provide the appropriate Workplace Safety and Climate information for inclusion in new employee onboarding regionally.
• Carry out accident/incident/near miss investigations for the built environment, including root cause analysis, following the incident reporting management process; provide recommendations to prevent recurrence, mitigate risk and implement approved actions.
• Support the global corporate security, and health and safety teams, as required, in the investigation of accidents, incidents and relevant near misses.
• Ensure contractor and subcontractor compliance with HSE systems and procedures are in place and adhered to.
Compliance
• As required, ensure that ISO 14001:2004 & ISO 45001 standards are complied with.
• Plan and implement risk management, safety policies and procedures in compliance with all local legislative regulations, relating to Mastercard's global operations.
• Plan and coordinate the annual audit program with our IFM business partner, at global office locations, and produce quarterly audit summary reports.
• Ensure the ergonomic assessments and guidance program and associated. procedures are maintained in accordance with regional legislative requirements.
Required Education & Certification
• At least 3-5 years of direct safety experience
• Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 as it pertains to Workplace Safety and the built environment.
• Working knowledge of UK and European safety requirements
• Proficient in the use of MS Office Applications (Words, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Smart Sheet etc).
• Leadership skills necessary to achieve corporate objectives.
• Ability to read, analyse and interpret common scientific technical journals and legal documents.

• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, senior leadership, regulatory agencies, or members of the local business community.
• Ability to effectively present information to senior management, site personnel, regulatory agencies and/or public groups.
