Overview

We are looking for a lead business analyst join an award winning team with a proven track record of combining data science technique with an intimate knowledge of payments data to aid Financial Institutions in their fight against money laundering and fraud. Headquartered in The City of London, we craft bespoke services that help our clients gain an understanding of the underlying criminal behaviour that drives financial crime, empowering them to take action.

As part of the application development team, your role will focus on defining and translating requirements from partner teams for the software engineering team. This will involve iterating existing products and designing and developing new ones.

Role

• Meet with product/project managers and business analysts to discuss and elicit under-the-surface needs and translate them into specific system requirements and subsequent project objectives.
• Recognise and escalate trends in key business problems in association with internal customers and contributes ideas for improvement.
• Lead key strategic projects that require significant coordination & changes to application structure.
• Identify solutions for less complex, more common issues.
• Define project requirements and assists with estimating efforts to fulfil requirements.
• Write user stories and features.
• Explore the team's ability to accomplish a project.
• Serve as an intermediary between the software engineering team and product team.
• Analyse requirements to determine the system needs to fulfil those requirements.
• Translate requirements into realistic goals and well-defined user stories.
• Create epics, features, and stories from user stories in collaboration with engineering managers, software engineers and systems analysts.
• Define templates for JIRA artefacts at multiple levels
• Ensure consistency of JIRA artefacts
• Assist with writing user guides and other forms of customer facing documentation.
• Refine project requirements in flight.
• Groom engineering backlog, prioritise stories to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Work with Quality Assurance team to prioritise test cases and measure coverage.
• Manage project scope, ensuring requirements are agreed and signed off at project inception and that new requirements are captured and prioritised.
• Run discovery workshops with product and engineering to capture requirements and refine understanding across both teams.
• The role is hybrid, based in central London, and the expectation is that you attend the office according to Mastercard policy, including team days on Monday and Thursday.

All About You

You are an experienced analyst, used to working with a disparate group of stakeholders with different points of view. You are adept at managing those points of view and reaching an agreed consensus when capturing and formalising requirements. You can establish priority from those requirements and translate them into user stories and more granular delivery artefacts.

• Experience working in cross-functional and large projects.
• Relevant experience in requirements gathering and relationship building with product teams.
• Able to collaborate with business partners and peer level professionals.
• You are comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders, including subject matter experts, data scientists, software engineers and enterprise devops and security professionals.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Familiar with confluence and JIRA.
• Experience grooming backlog, prioritising stories and tests.
• Able to chair discovery workshops, and to demonstrate experience of capturing the outcome of these workshops as requirements and user stories.
• Prior experience of translating user stories into features and stories in collaboration with engineering managers, software engineers and systems analysts.
• Knowledge of backend software developer, API driven systems and low latency products.
• Experience in new program/product launch across multiple markets/countries.
• Focussed on technology solutions to business problems.
• You may have domain knowledge in payments, fraud, anti-money laundering and machine learning.
