Title and Summary

Lead Software Engineer Role Overview
As a Tech Lead in the Commercial Transaction Management and Controls (CTMC) team, you will be responsible for leading technical design and delivery for complex systems that support Mastercard's transaction management capabilities. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:
Drive architecture and design decisions for scalable, resilient systems across multiple availability zones.
Mentor engineers and foster best practices in coding, testing, and DevOps.

Delivery Ownership:
Lead end-to-end delivery of features and enhancements within Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Quality & Security:
Ensure adherence to Mastercard's security and compliance standards, including GDPR and PCI DSS.
Implement automated testing strategies covering functional, non-functional, and performance aspects.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Promote adoption of modern technologies and cloud-native patterns.
Optimize CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability.
Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise:
Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and messaging systems (Kafka).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Engineering Practices:
Deep understanding of SDLC, DevOps, and automation tools (Jenkins, Git, SonarQube).
Ability to design and implement secure, high-performance APIs.
Leadership:
Proven experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a lead role.
Exposure to financial services or payment systems is a plus.

Professional Competencies
Business acumen to align technical decisions with strategic goals.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a global, distributed team environment.
