Overview
The Open API team sits within Mastercard's Open Finance product family. We build API and data products that unlock new payment, data, and AI-driven services for fintechs and ecosystem partners. Our team leads with innovation, using modern data, API, and AI capabilities to create new value-added products, pilot emerging technologies, and shape the future of Open Finance.
We are a highly collaborative and technical product team. We work hands-on with data and engineering, build prototypes, test ideas rapidly, and progress validated concepts into scalable products that drive value for Mastercard and our partners.
Role
We are seeking a Manager, Product Management – API & Data Products to drive the development of next-generation APIs and data-powered services. This role will lead end-to-end product development — from discovery and proof-of-concepts through to launch.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, data science, architecture, regional, and business teams to design scalable solutions that meet customer needs, drive ecosystem innovation, and create revenue opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end product lifecycle for new API and data products, from discovery and design through build and launch.
- Translate customer and business needs into clear product requirements for APIs, data models, and AI/ML use cases
- Work directly with engineers and data scientists to co-design technical solutions, validate feasibility, and shape scalable architectures
- Build early prototypes and proof-of-concepts to test hypotheses, evaluate data quality, and demonstrate value
- Engage cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities, manage dependencies, and ensure successful product delivery
- Monitor product performance, adoption, and feedback to inform continuous improvement and roadmap prioritization
What Success Looks Like in 12 Months
- Launched 1–2 new API or data products into market with clear adoption and business value
- Demonstrated early customer traction through pilots or initial revenue contribution
- Designed and implemented a repeatable PoC-to-product commercialisation model to accelerate future innovation
All About You
- Experience in product management with proven ability to bring new technology products to market (API or data products strongly preferred)
- Technically proficient — able to prototype, build PoCs, write or review sample code, and problem-solve with engineers
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work directly with data to derive insights, test hypotheses, and collaborate on ML/LLM-enabled solutions
- Customer-centric mindset with experience conducting discovery, defining problem statements, and translating needs into product capabilities
- Thrives in fast-paced, innovative environments with the ability to move seamlessly between hands-on technical problem solving and strategic product thinking
