Title and Summary
Product Manager Job DescriptionThis position will be responsible for leading highly visible projects to meet market and regulatory needs. The ideal candidate is passionate about both understanding the customer & the business and working with technology teams to deliver working solutions.
This role holds end to end ownership, accountability, and management of technical and operational initiatives related to Mexico's switching platform. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining the full project plan, coordinating cross functional teams (including external technical vendors), and ensuring successful delivery within scope, schedule, and budget to support business objectives and go to market strategies. The role also participates in gathering business requirements, identifies barriers to project success, manages mitigation plans, and activates contingencies when necessary. Regular communication with project sponsors and senior leadership includes presenting status updates, risks, mitigation actions, and next steps.
Major Accountabilities
• Manage the overall end to end project plan to execute and implement the technology roadmap and all activities required to operate and support the domestic switch in alignment with business requirements and in coordination with multiple workstream owners.
• Plan, manage, and track deadlines and development milestones to ensure project stability and successful delivery of releases within agreed upon time, scope, and resource parameters.
• Coordinate activities across internal cross functional technical teams and external vendor teams to meet aggressive project deadlines.
• Assist the Program Manager in the business requirements gathering process.
• Maintain strong knowledge of the initiative's business objectives, scope, and team roles to effectively guide and synchronize work across stakeholders.
• Identify when the project is off track and proactively remove blockers and impediments to ensure both technical and business milestones are met.
• Anticipate potential risks, planning gaps, and future challenges, and prepare comprehensive contingency plans.
• Regularly present status updates, risks, mitigation strategies, and upcoming steps to the project sponsor, senior management, and internal partners.
Knowledge / Experience Requirements
• Experience with financial products.
• Experience designing solutions that both enhance the product offering, and work within the design principles
• Extensive knowledge of planning and project management processes, methods, and required techniques
• In depth knowledge of project planning methodologies and automated project planning tools.
• Experience working with technical applications and/or information systems (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of clearing houses in Mexico (e.g., PROSA, E Global).
• Understanding of payment systems governed by Mexico's banking association (ABM).
• Knowledge of CICC – Interchange Conditions between clearing houses.
• Understanding of the Domestic Interchange Contract.
• Knowledge of the Mexican Miscellaneous Tax Resolution, Annex 29, covering issuer and acquirer rules.
• Ability to clearly understand business goals and translate them into technical and operational implications to support proper planning.
• Comfortable working at a detailed level with interface specifications & doing related data mappings to and from APIs
• Ability to work collaboratively with development and business stakeholders within an Agile team
• Solid analytical skills are essential, i.e. the ability to take high level requirements and drill these down into detailed functional requirements under your own initiativ
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations and explain technical concepts to non technical audiences.
• Solid understanding of systems development methodologies, organizational change management principles, and business process improvement frameworks.
• Knowledge of MasterCard and the payments industry (a plus).
