Title and Summary

Senior Platform Engineer Overview

The Global Provisioning Team provides consumers with a single point of contact to request infrastructure changes, reduce hand-offs and SLA wait time.
The Senior Platform Engineer drives efficiency and provides value to our internal customers and stakeholders by being part of a global team implementing network configuration changes.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, intellectually curious, and drives continuous process improvement to increase efficiency and reduce delivery timelines.


The Role
In this position, you will:
• Conduct necessary capacity planning to negate wait times for network switch procurement by correlating demand to technology requirements, implementing process bulk ordering and maintaining a switch inventory for install and change activities.
• Integrate network access switch provisioning into the Datacenter Engineering build timeline for all environments.
• Prepare high quality documentation and follow all established change management processes.
• Work efficiently in a high security environment.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of the organization and with external partners.

All About You
• Platform engineering expertise with exposure to two or more of the following areas: LAN, firewalls, Routing and Switching technologies while adhering to standard design methodologies and best practices.
• Mastery of TCP/IP protocol communications, addressing & subnetting, knowledgeable with IPV6 addressing.
• Knowledge of Cisco's product portfolio: routers, switches, ACI.
• Knowledge of Aruba product portfolio: switches, ClearPass, APs.
• Knowledge of Arista product portfolio: Spine leaf architecture, Cloud Vision.
• Cisco certifications such as CCNA and DCCOR preferred.
• Familiarity with scripting tools such as Python, Ansible and Automation to improve process efficiencies and remove errors due to manual inputs.
• Knowledge of Infoblox (inc. DHCP, DNS).
• Datacenter support experience including racking and cabling of IT equipment is a plus.
• Ability to follow process - Evaluate and propose process enhancements to drive efficiencies.

Desirable or additional capabilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and excellent customer support capabilities.
• Self-motivated demonstrating strong organizational and listening skills; and very detail oriented with the ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to consistently act in a professional manner and communicate with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
• Methodical problem resolving skills.
• Implementation of Cisco ACI.
• Understanding of Arista spine-leaf technologies and Cloud Vision is good to have.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Math, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
