Title and Summary
Senior Platform Engineer Overview:Supports and provides input into the design, architecture, implementation, security and support of large multi-site, multi-vendor Data Center environments
Major Accountabilities:
•Manage Data Center infrastructure to ensure security, availability, recoverability, performance, integrity, and supportability
•Manage and implement Data Center projects and initiatives
•Develop detailed requirements for upgrading existing Data Center infrastructure, as well as planning to support new requirements, technologies, and growth
•Research and develop innovative Data Center infrastructure solutions
•Supports assigned regional projects, which include responsibility for planning; time and cost control; resource utilization and implementation
•Monitors Data Center infrastructure to maximize performance, escalating issues as they arise
•Plans and maintains production and pre-production hardware environments by Engineering and implementing Installs, Moves, Adds and Changes (IMAC) using the approved Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and Change Management tools
•Gains exposure to the latest developments in technology as a basis for evaluations and recommendations that support business requirements
•Evaluates and recommends improvements to enhance processes and improve the security and resilience of operational environments for hosted production and pre-production systems
•Resolves standard hardware and connectivity problems as they arise, escalating any issues where analysis of the situation requires evaluation and judgement
Education:
•Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge / Experience:
•3 to 5 years of overall IT experience in the following areas:
•Installing and maintaining Data Center hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, storage and servers (both blade and rack mount)
•Experience with circuit support and troubleshooting
•Knowledge of Mainframe environment and connectivity a plus
•Configuring Management interfaces (iDRAC, iLO, CIMC) and supporting infrastructure with the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues
•Configuring Network ports and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Scripting is a plus
•Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management tools
•Experience with Project Management methodology and best practices
•Experience with Colocation Providers and Smart Hands is a plus
Skills/ Abilities:
•Strong verbal and written communications skills
•Self-starter with demonstrated listening skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member
•Ability to employ network diagnostics technologies to troubleshoot connectivity issues
•Serves as a mentor to Platform Engineer I & II, by leading others and demonstrating good judgment
•Limited supervision; work may be reviewed for direction and strategy

Pay Ranges
Kansas City, Missouri: $94,000 - $157,000 USDApply on company website
