Team Overview: Infrastructure Design Engineering Automation (IDEA)
The IDEA team is focused on transforming Mastercard's infrastructure delivery by automating legacy processes and integrating with Mastercard APIs. Our flagship platform, RAA (Reference Architecture Automation), enables scalable, secure, and efficient infrastructure provisioning with minimal manual intervention.
Role Summary
As a Software Engineer II, you'll contribute to the development and enhancement of automation tools and services that support Mastercard's infrastructure modernization efforts. You'll work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to build reliable, secure, and performant software solutions.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver features that support infrastructure automation.
Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications using Mastercard's standard tools and frameworks.
Contribute to the automation of build, operate, and run aspects of infrastructure software.
Participate in code reviews and apply secure coding practices.
Troubleshoot and debug issues across services and environments.
Document technical designs, decisions, and processes.
Continuously learn and apply new technologies and patterns relevant to Mastercard's infrastructure goals.
Required Skills
Aptitude for learning new languages/frameworks.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, Go, JavaScript, Typescript.
Experience with React.js or similar frontend frameworks.
Familiarity with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE).
Understanding of software engineering principles including testing, operability, and service-oriented architecture.
Experience with Git-based workflows (e.g., Gitflow), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins), and code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube).
Ability to write unit, integration, and regression tests.
Exposure to API development and consumption using standardized patterns.
Preferred Qualifications
2–4 years of professional software development experience.
Experience with infrastructure automation or DevOps practices.
Familiarity with Mastercard's internal tools such as RAA, Bitbucket, Blazemeter, and VMware.
Understanding of performance, security, and regulatory requirements in enterprise environments.
