We work to connect and power an inclusive, digital economy that benefits everyone, everywhere by making transactions safe, simple, smart and accessible. Using secure data and networks, partnerships and passion, our innovations and solutions help individuals, financial institutions, governments and businesses realize their greatest potential. Our decency quotient, or DQ, drives our culture and everything we do inside and outside of our company. We cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views, and experiences. We believe that our differences enable us to be a better team – one that makes better decisions, drives innovation and delivers better business results.

Title and Summary

Vice President, Product Experience Design We are looking for an accomplished leader to lead this product team and CX group and help us evolve and scale our design practice in the EU region.

Design is core to product development at Mastercard. Data-driven products and services should demonstrate the same care and craft as consumer software, designed using human—centered practices. This role requires understanding not just of UX, but also the business aspects of the products we build. You'll collaborate with leaders of other CX, Engineering, Data Modeling, and Product Management teams to create innovative experiences across Mastercard's data products, esp. Commercial Payments related data ones, leveraging your passion for design quality.

The Mastercard Data & Services Customer Experience (UX) team is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of interaction designers, visual designers, experience researchers, front-end developers, and content designers. The VP, Product Experience Design, will lead this team in the evolution of our product experiences, ensuring that users remain at the heart of all design decisions. Our aim is for Mastercard to become a truly design-led organization.

You should be passionate about the possibilities of data and data-driven experience design (cf. Edward Tufte) with deep knowledge, and experience of, visual display of quantitative information.

This role is for those already with significant management experience. We're looking for a leader with a strong diplomatic bent, using their relationship skills to bring non-designers into the fold as partners; and uphold CX values and quality standards in a stakeholder-rich environment. You will nurture our rapidly growing, highly innovative Data and Services Product Development team in the EU.

You'll be responsible for guiding the careers of your team members, working closely with each of them to help them realize their full potential.

Must Have Requirements:

• Prior experience of leading a world-beating UX team
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Design for Interactive Media, or equivalent
• Minimum 15 years of experience in UX Design + 7 years of experience in managing CX-led product development teams
• Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills; able to articulate the rationale behind decisions not only to the UX and Product teams, but executive leaders as well
• Experience in co-creating products with customers by designing proof-of-concepts and minimum viable data products (MVPs) using human-centric design principles and rapid prototyping (Lean UX and Design Thinking)
• Appreciation and understanding of region specific regulatory, business and technology constraints
• Ability to think strategically
• Proven track-record in running "Design Thinking" workshops—collaborating cross-functionally with industry verticals, regional leads, and end-users to ensure optimal design
• Proven track-record for developing net-new digital products across the product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization
• Demonstrated track record in growing and nurturing a happy and dynamic design team
