The Manager, Specialty Products Accounting plans, manages and executes the Finance related development and maintenance of the ancillary products consistent with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles and legal specifications.
Responsibilities
- Supervises the Finance daily operations of ancillary products.
- Supervises and participates in monthly and year end close process. Acts as the Finance owner over the ancillary products.
- Supervises and participates in the completing of the annual, quarterly and supplemental filings to various state insurance departments and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) for MMLIC and SDC.
- Provides leadership and guidance to staff. Develops long and short-term departmental goals, ensuring that these goals are consistent with the Company's goals and objectives.
- Primary point of contact for and owner of remittance payments to external Reinsurers as well as other adhoc remittance payment requests related to ancillary products.
- Assists in technical accounting research and other adhoc projects as directed by Director, Accounting & Research, Corporate Controller or Senior Executive Management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related field. MBA preferred.
- 8 years of progressively responsible technical experience in Accounting with 3 years in a leadership position.
Professional Certification(s):
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and ability to apply the appropriate accounting standards to the relevant job duties. Statutory accounting experience preferred.
- Familiarity with State and Federal financial and insurance regulations preferred.
- Ability to understand, analyze and articulate complex business and financial topics.
