MedStar Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiovascular Critical Care team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, flagship of the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute. Practice at the top of your license in a high-acuity cardiovascular critical care environment alongside intensivists, cardiac surgeons, advanced heart failure specialists, and a multidisciplinary team.   MedStar Washington Hospital Center is a leading academic medical center and regional referral center for patients requiring the highest level of highly specialized and complex cardiac care, including advanced heart failure, LVAD, ECMO, and complex cardiac surgery.   MedStar Washington Hospital Center was recently ranked #1 hospital in the region, and our Cardiology, Cardiac and Vascular program was ranked #16 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.   What You'll Do

  • Manage patients following cardiac and vascular surgery, as well as those with advanced heart failure, LVADs, ECMO, and complex cardiovascular critical illness
  • Evaluate and manage shock, respiratory failure, heart failure, renal failure, and other critical illnesses
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with intensivists, surgeons, specialists, and the ICU team
  • Perform advanced bedside procedures including central venous and dialysis catheters, arterial lines, chest tubes, and thoracentesis
  • Contribute to APP education, mentorship, quality improvement, and professional development
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited AGACNP or PA program with current national certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum one year of APP experience in an ICU
  • CVICU, CICU, cardiothoracic critical care, LVAD, ECMO, and advanced procedural experience preferred
