MedStar Georgetown University Hospital — a proud Magnet® designated academic medical center — is seeking an experienced and passionate Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Division of Nursing. The Emergency Department is in our outstanding newly opened Verstandig Pavilion

Our Emergency Department is staffed and equipped to care for over 40,000 patients a year ranging from newborn to end of life. Our metropolitan ED provides high quality care to a wide variety of patients, including adult and pediatric patients from the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute and the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, MedStar Georgetown is accredited by the Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and receives acute stroke patients from all around the DC region. All the nurses in the Emergency Department are certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and are NIH Stroke Certified and many also have their CEN, TNCC, and ENPC certifications. ED Nursing Leadership supports and encourages nurses to enhance their educational expertise and professional development. MedStar Georgetown's Emergency Department prides itself on its teamwork, collaborative governance and decision making which creates and implements new ideas centered on evidenced based practice.
About the Role
The Clinical Educator provides educational leadership that supports excellence in nursing practice and aligns with MedStar Georgetown's mission, vision, values, and Magnet standards. This role is essential in advancing clinical competency, supporting certification, and integrating evidence-based practice throughout nursing teams.
Schedule
Monday – Friday Days
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as a mentor, coach, and role model for nursing staff.
- Assessing staff learning needs and designing, implementing, and evaluating education programs and unit-based orientation.
- Supporting certification and professional development, including specialty fellowship programs.
- Leading and participating in performance improvement, quality initiatives, and nursing research.
- Collaborating across interdisciplinary and academic partners to support clinical and educational objectives and enhance practice environments.
- Promoting shared governance through active participation in nursing councils, committees, task forces, and system initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
- Master's Degree in Nursing Education or related field preferred
- Current D.C. RN license required
- Certification in Nursing Education or clinical specialty required within 1 year

USD $97,947.20 - USD $162,801.60 /Yr.
