About the Job

General Summary of Position
Responsible for the preparation and setting up for banquet services at the Washington Hospital Center and the delivery of food and services to patients in the Hospital's Pavilion.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Assembles banquet trays and beverage services per Catering Event Order/guest count. Prepares/cuts necessary food and/or garnish in accordance to departmental guidelines.
  • Delivers/retrieves banquet items and beverage services. Sets up for service e.g. tables chairs table cloths place settings centerpieces serving area(s) etc. May decide for rented supplies.
  • Serves Hospital staff and their guests in meeting rooms throughout WHC. Serves patients in the Hospital's Pavilion in accordance with departmental service guidelines.
  • Restocks and/or refills beverages and non-perishable food products in banquet storage area or the Pavilion kitchen.
  • Stores and displays food and supplies in correct containers and in the proper storage area in accordance with departmental guidelines. Dates labels and rotates refrigerated food (e.g. desserts dairy products and fruit/cheese trays prepared for same day use) pastries and breads in accordance with departmental procedure of first in/first out.
  • Checks and records food and refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established health and departmental policies/standards.
  • Maintains assigned area in a clean organized and sanitary manner; disposes of trash and obvious clutter as necessary.
  • Sorts and rinses dishes and silverware as preparation to being washed. May polish silver and or spot dry crystal.
  • Accepts payment for guest meals in the Hospital's Pavilion adhering to departmental cash handling procedures.
  • Assists with the orientation of new staff members by demonstrating the basic duties of the job.
  • Attends in-services and other departmental meetings and training sessions as required including all line up meetings.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.

Experience

  • 6 to 12 months experience preferably in food service required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Requires the ability to read write and perform basic addition and subtraction.
  • Requires the ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $18.54 - USD $25.74 /Hr.
