About the Job
We are seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (PA-C or NP) with a passion for providing exceptional patient care to join our established cardiology group in a full time role.
Schedule and Practice Structure:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Weekly schedule consists of 2 inpatient hospital days and 3 outpatient clinic days
- Weekend hospital coverage is shared on a rotation of approximately once every five weekends, with a compensatory weekday off the week before and after each weekend worked. There is a salary differential for weekend shifts
- No on-call responsibilities
Inpatient Responsibilities
Hospital-based care in a team-based model alongside another Advanced Practice Provider and two attending cardiologists. The inpatient APP functions as part of a consulting cardiology team providing coverage to all areas of the hospital, excluding pediatrics. Daily patient load is typically 5–10 patients, all of whom are co-managed with the attending physician.
Inpatient duties include:
- Providing consultative cardiology services across all adult hospital units
- Delivering post-procedural care for patients following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and electrophysiology procedures including pacemaker/ICD implantation and catheter ablation
- Serving as the primary care team for direct admissions for antiarrhythmic drug loading
- Coordinating and facilitating transfers to tertiary care centers
- Providing coverage for a Lasix infusion center
Outpatient Clinic Responsibilities
During clinic days, the APP manages a panel of approximately 14 patients per day in 30-minute
appointment slots. The patient mix typically includes post-hospitalization follow-ups, urgent
issues, and stable chronic disease management visits.
General duties include:
- Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations
- Order and interpreting diagnostic testing, including EKGs
- Develop and implement individual treatment plans in collaboration with attending cardiologists
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate
- Prescribe and manage cardiac medications
- Provide patient and family education on cardiovascular disease prevention and management
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record,
including appropriate billing and coding
Preferred skills and qualifications include:
- Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program with a national board certification and Maryland state license
- Active CDS and DEA license
- Current Basic and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
- 2 years experience in a cardiology setting
- Strong foundational knowledge of cardiovascular diseases, diagnostics, and treatments
- Excellent clinical judgement with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a physician led team
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous medical education and professional development
- High level of empathy, professionalism, and dedication to patient centered care
This position has a hiring range of
USD $115,003.00 - USD $165,006.00 /Yr.
