About the Job
The HIM Specialist III Team Leader position is currently operating on a hybrid schedule due to an ongoing office renovation project. During this transition period, the team is working from a temporary workspace for an estimated 6–9 months. The temporary office environment is compact and designed to accommodate a small team collaboratively during the renovation phase. The current hybrid schedule is Remote: Monday and Tuesday and On-site: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Upon completion of the renovation project, this position is expected to transition back to a full-time, on-site schedule.
General Summary of Position
HIM Team Lead is responsible for performing a variety of HIM-related technical and clerical tasks and duties.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Functions as a team leader and assist in completion of various tasks in all areas of responsibility.
- Is proficient in all document imaging functions including: prep, scan, quality control and validation.
- Is proficient in deficiency management functions including provider completion and suspension processes.
- Functions in the areas of prepping, scanning, quality control validation and deficiency management as necessary.
- Assists in the preparation of reports and statistical materials requested by the department physicians or other hospital departments.
- Maintains quality standards. Audits and monitors production and quality of associate work. Provides input into associate evaluation process.
- Coordinates associate schedules.
- Assists in the training and orientation of HIM associates.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management preferred
Experience
- 3-4 years experience in hospital health information management or related experience required
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills required
- Medical Terminology required
This position has a hiring range of
USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
