About the Job

General Summary of Position
Leads a team of maintenance technicians and subcontractors in daily tasks such as installing repairing and performing maintenance of new or existing equipment involving mechanical electrical plumbing carpentry and other MWHC facilities structures falling under this category. Performs basic preventive and corrective maintenance in an acute and non-acute space through all Hospital facilities including HVAC plumbing and electrical systems. Has direct input in the beautification process of rooms after patients are discharged including scheduling and completing these projects in a timely manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Installs tests maintains and repairs equipment and systems e.g. patient's beds toilets urinals sinks showers tubs filters faucets mixers spigots drains disposals strainers dishwashers kitchen/laboratory/laundry equipment cage washers.
  • Trouble shoots and diagnoses engineering/plant equipment and develops and implements solutions and corrections.
  • Makes daily rounds and inspects/evaluates the condition of all system components work in progress and completed preventive and corrective maintenance ensuring that required standards of operation and maintenance have been met. Maintains accurate records/logs and submits logs/records to supervisor as appropriate.
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and casualty prevention work orders. Recommends improvements and modifications as appropriate.
  • Gives instruction and direction trains new associates and assigns tasks.
  • Takes the first call on the off-shifts and prioritize projects
  • Fills in for the Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Manager when they are unavailable. Responds to inquiries from Maintenance Technicians and subcontractors as issues/questions arise.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required or
    • Trade/vocational school graduate; or equivalent with courses such as chemistry physics and mathematics exhibiting the ability to read understand and interpret equipment manuals written specifications written and oral instructions meters and gages as well as models/graphic illustrations such as: layout diagrams blueprints mechanical and architectural drawings work sketches and schematic drawings as well as the ability to detect warning signals and machinery malfunctions required
    Experience
    • 3-4 years Maintenance Mechanic demonstrating the ability to perform this position and the knowledge of computer operations and programming of mechanical systems required
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Verbal/written communications skills ability to articulate issues ability to provide clear and concise instructions ability to manage projects to completion etc.

    This position has a hiring range of

    USD $23.65 - USD $42.03 /Hr.
