General Summary of Position
MedStar Health Urgent Care is committed to providing world-class compassionate care to every patient every time at every touch point during the experience. All associates are accountable for their role in meeting patient experience standards. In collaboration with site leadership oversees and coordinates all administrative matters relating to financial and personnel operations for a designated MedStar Health Urgent Care site. Coordinates and participates with patient registrations and manages patient flow to include the intake treatment and discharge process. Oversees daily functions including staff schedules. Responsible for front-end billing process from open to close management of clinical workflows and ordering clinical supplies. Also responsible for customer service and service recovery when applicable. Responsible for oversight of all administrative and clinical staff.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Acts as a backup resource for all positions within the practice including but not limited to assisting when staffing issues arise.
  • Along with site leadership maintains ongoing communication with the medical records vendor.
  • Analyzes supply usage maintains working supply knowledge and oversees ordering and maintenance of required supplies within in the office.
  • Assists site leadership with selection training orienting and assignment of site staff assists with development of standards of performance management planning and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Assists in staff meetings.
  • Supports other members of the team during downtime and bottlenecks in patient processing. Assists with patient intake discharge and radiology limited to approved body parts.
  • Coordinates and oversees front desk staff and clinical workflow.
  • Delivers patient care consistent with policy and with high regard for patient/associate safety and quality of care.
  • Identifies opportunities for staff to develop customer service skills and delivers appropriate training.
  • Implements monitors and reinforces MedStar Health Urgent Care policies and procedures. Recommends new or modified policies and procedures to reduce cost streamline workflows and/or improve associate performance.
  • Oversees participates and monitors radiology departmental workflows and requirements of dosimetry badge policy.
  • Performs all user audits and functions related to required daily weekly and monthly reports in addition to developing and maintaining department reports for tracking.
  • Performs x-rays in accordance with medical provider orders limited to the approved body parts; forwards images to the appropriate radiologist for over-reads; maintains x-ray equipment and adheres to safety standards.
  • Prepares associate work schedules and arranges for adequate coverage to maintain optimum patient service.
  • Resolves problems conflicts concerns and complaints to attain maximum patient and staff satisfaction. Initiates service recovery as needed.
  • Reviews and verifies daily TOS receipts end of shift reconciliation conducts an audit of services rendered to account for all cash collected. Ensures cash security and cash balancing are properly maintained and completed. Makes semi-weekly bank deposits or serves as point of contact for courier pickup of deposit.
  • Supports new clinical and service initiatives; seeks opportunities to improve care and the patient experience. Attends quarterly retreats and conference calls.
  • Supports the physician in patient examination testing and education and provides quality assurance as it relates to outstanding radiology reads by the Radiologist.
  • Performs other testing and care consistent with the scope of MedStar Health Urgent Care including but not limited to spirometry patient vitals and BMI EKGs vision tests splinting administration of oral medications injections venipuncture point of care testing and general patient care under the supervision of the medical provider.
  • Reviews mail and email daily. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required and
  • Completion of an approved LRT program required and
  • Associate's degree preferred

Experience

  • Medical or ambulatory health setting experience required and
  • 1-2 years 2 years of medical office experience strongly preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must have a state Limited Radiology Technologist License or a Limited X-ray Machine Operator state registration in the following required modules: Chest Spine Extremities as required by appropriate governing body required and
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Clinical competency as verified during the initial 90-day orientation period and annually thereafter.
  • Excellent customer service/ patient interaction skills; Computer & Electronic Medical Record skills and ability to function in a variable clinical setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
