Working hours for this role is 2:30pm - 11pm, Monday - Friday with an every other weekend rotation. General Summary of Position
Performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory procedures in the core laboratory section including chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis. Evaluates and reports results for use in patient diagnosis and treatment.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesContributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Maintains inventory and supplies; stocks supplies and maintains a neat, orderly work area.
Operates and maintains laboratory equipment in assigned areas; troubleshoots problems; and validates and documents information as required by standard protocol.
Participates in surveys; conducts established quality control procedures; evaluates results; implements corrective action when indicated; and ensures the accuracy of test results.
Performs a wide variety of routine and specialized procedures following prescribed protocols and using manual or automated methods; calculates and reports results as established; and consults with a pathologist regarding difficult analyses or abnormal findings.
Prepares and evaluates statistical data, cost analyses, and daily tallies for monthly reports.
Prepares, evaluates, and labels reagents, media, and other materials according to established procedures.
Processes specimens, ensuring accurate identification, confidentiality of information, and appropriate preparation, storage, and transportation. May perform specimen procurement as required.
Sets up and evaluates new procedures; performs comparison studies for linearity, precision, accuracy, and other measures; and determines normal ranges.
Trains new employees and students. Instructs others in new procedures and evaluates and documents performance.
Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related science; or
Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related science; or
Equivalent education consisting of 60 semester hours, including 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology; or
Equivalent education consisting of 60 semester hours, including 24 semester hours of science comprising 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination, plus laboratory training that includes either completion of a clinical laboratory training program or three months of training in each specialty in which high-complexity testing is performed.
Prior work experience is not required.
ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification or equivalent certification preferred.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills preferred.

USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
