General Summary of Position
Ensures a safe environment for our patients staff and visitors. Patrols hospital property responds to calls for assistance and reports on conditions objects or persons which may impact the security and/or safety of patients associates physicians visitors or vendors and responds according to established policies procedures and regulations. Security Officers are essential associates in a 24/7 environment and may be required to be flexible with scheduling and work "off-shifts."
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Education
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
- 1-2 years related security or law enforcement experience required
- In lieu of the related experience an internal candidate who has 1 year of MedStar tenure may be considered.
- Prior experience in healthcare (or related field with a patient-first customer-first mission) preferred
- DL - Valid State Driver's License in good standing required
- IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer preferred
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
- Must successfully complete all MedStar initial training related to violence prevention de-escalation and crisis prevention intervention. required
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and thoughtful during a crisis.
- Ability to assist in deescalating situations with strong emotions and conflict.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
This position has a hiring range of
USD $18.33 - USD $31.61 /Hr.
