This role is perfect for nurses with OR experience who are ready to elevate their career and take their skills to the next level in cardiovascular surgery. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure every procedure is executed with precision, efficiency, and care.
What You'll DoProvide expert perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgical patients.
Prepare the OR and surgical team for complex procedures, anticipating patient and surgical needs.
Circulate or scrub during procedures, monitoring patient status, equipment, and sterile field integrity.
Document patient care accurately and thoroughly to ensure seamless transitions and regulatory compliance.
Serve as a patient advocate, providing support and clear communication to patients and families before, during, and after surgery.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, safety programs, and evidence-based practice enhancements.
Mentor and support new team members through orientation and ongoing professional development.
Education: Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. If prepared at the associate level, enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months and completion within 4 years is required.
Experience: CV OR experience preferred; general OR experience required.
Licensure and Certifications:
Active RN license in the District of Columbia (DC is not part of the compact).
BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross within 90 days of hire.
Additional specialty certifications may be required depending on department needs.
