MedStar Health is currently seeking a Supervisor, Interventional Radiology to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. This position is for experienced Radiology Technologists to coordinate and direct subordinate personnel, including clerical personnel, Patient Services Assistants, and technical personnel engaged in performing diagnostic radiological procedures. 

 

Under limited supervision serves as a member of the management team reporting to the Manager/Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for the designated modalities. This role is responsible for the technical and behavioral performance of direct reports workflows and utilization of all related equipment.

Primary Duties: 

  • Adheres to and develops modality policies and procedures with Medical Director and managerial oversight. Maintains and monitors all required quality control and equipment needs. Ensures all organizational safety policies and procedures are being followed to be in compliance with state federal and accreditation standards and regulations. Ensures adequate supply and inventory needs are met.
  • Leads clinical staff in the designated modalities and facilitates a productive workflow for efficient department operation. Resolves clinical/functional issues and escalates problems to appropriate leadership. Works with all departments to facilitate patient care coordination and keep patient experience at the forefront of decision making.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to plan implement and evaluate budgetary functions staff scheduling capital equipment planning and educational activities.
  • Hires trains evaluates and develops subordinate staff in accordance with defined policies and objectives. Provides feedback on staff performance trains and orients personnel in procedures equipment and information systems. Actively participates in coaching and mentoring staff in all aspects of job performance.
  • Supervises the resolution of both clinical and non-clinical issues escalating complex or unresolved matters to appropriate leadership for further action. Ensures adherence to protocols maintains comprehensive documentation and fosters a collaborative approach to problem-solving across teams. Provides guidance and support to staff ensuring continuous improvement in operational efficiency and quality of service.
  • Leads departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives to enhance workflows patient experience quality and safety.
  • Oversees technical accuracy of images acquired and examination completion in RIS and PACS processing archiving and making images available to the Radiologist for interpretation maintaining department document standards within all electronic systems (RIS PACS EMR). Oversees documentation of patient care activity in various electronic health records systems. Helps troubleshoot issues with images transmission missing reports and billing rejections.
  • Partners with vendors to evaluate products and equipment. Facilitates educational sessions for staff to improve their skill set and professional growth.
  • Always acts and communicates professionally embodying the organization's SPIRIT values and fostering a respectful and supportive environment for patients families and colleagues. Adheres to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.

Qualifications:  


Education

  • Associate's degree or Certificate in the field of Imaging required and Bachelor's degree Preferred

Experience

  • 3+ years as a clinical imaging professional required and 3-4 years Leadership experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

    • ARRT Interventional Radiology Preferred; Amer Reg of Radiologic Tech - ARRT ARRT ARMIT CNMT ARDMS Certification in one of the following: RAD CT MRI Mammography Ultrasound PET CT Nuclear Medicine or Interventional Radiology Upon Hire required
    • BLS - Basic Life Support Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification Upon Hire required

 

 


This position has a hiring range of

USD $89,065.00 - USD $162,801.00 /Yr.
