General Summary of Position
The Environmental Services (EVS) OR Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating environmental services operations within the Operating Room and associated perioperative areas to ensure a clean safe and infection-prevention-focused environment. The incumbent provides leadership direction and daily supervision of EVS associates performing routine terminal and specialty cleaning in accordance with hospital policies regulatory requirements and industry best practices.The EVS OR Supervisor collaborates closely with perioperative leadership infection prevention and other interdisciplinary partners to support efficient surgical operations minimize room turnover times and maintain compliance with Joint Commission CMS and AORN standards. This role promotes a culture of accountability service excellence and continuous improvement while ensuring staff are properly trained equipped and supported.The incumbent maintains effective communication with customers and leadership conducts regular rounding and quality audits addresses performance concerns in real time and ensures appropriate documentation and reporting. All duties are performed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the hospital's mission values policies and procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Supervises and supports EVS associates assigned to the OR PACU sterile core perioperative support areas.
- Ensures proper execution of daily terminal and specialty cleaning practices in surgical areas.
- Oversees and coordinates floor care activities in the OR and perioperative areas including routine cleaning periodic maintenance corrective work and deep cleaning of all floor surfaces (e.g. vinyl tiles terrazzo and specialty flooring) ensuring adherence to manufacturer recommendations and infection prevention standards.
- Monitors and ensures the safe and effective use of floor care equipment chemicals and supplies including auto scrubbers burnishers and other specialty equipment.
- Provides coaching training and performance management to EVS associates.
- Monitors staffing schedules and call-ins to meet operational needs.
- Provides recommendations to the Environmental Services Director for documentation disciplinary action and evaluations.
- Makes recommendations for purchase of supplies and equipment.
- Ensures compliance with infection prevention standards safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts daily infections control sanitation and cleanliness standard checks of facility and documents work performed by associates.
- Maintains annual mandatory training departmental skills and competencies are complete.
- Partners with OR leadership to support departmental cleanliness and address service concerns promptly.
- Reports any complaints to Director of Environmental Services.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives and service recovery efforts.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience
- 1-2 years Janitorial housekeeping cleaning services in a hospital setting required and
- 1-2 years Previous supervisory experience preferred
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
