General Summary of Position
Leads the operations and patient care at MedStar Health Home Care for a patient team within an agency. Implements and maintains operational policies and procedures in consultation with Sr. Leadership, Regional Operations Directors, and Quality. Oversees patient care consistent with legal and/or regulatory standards. MedStar Health Home Care is committed to providing world-class, compassionate care to every patient, every time, at every touch point during the experience. All associates are accountable for their role in meeting patient experience standards. Responsible for the effective direction of administrative, financial, and clinical services for a multi-disciplinary team. Leads special projects for their designated branch as well as oversees specific branch designated duties. Provides continuous support to teams within their respective branch by role modeling best practices and facilitating compliance, In the absence of the Regional Operations Director, acts on their behalf.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assures the implementation and compliance of staff with all policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Completes annual Code of Conduct, Compliance and other mandatory training. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Enhances growth and development and enriches personal knowledge and skill through participation in educational programs and affiliations.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and agency in community outreach efforts.   • Manages financial and clinical outcomes for all patients on their clinical team with the use of appropriate reports and ongoing monitoring of established metrics.
  • Participates actively in MHHC Councils/Committees for performance improvement and to develop policies and procedures based on program development and/or needed operational changes.
  • Participates in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and retention of staff. Collaborates with education team members for optimal candidate selection.
  • Provides clinical and managerial direction and leadership to the clinical team, including care managers when applicable.
  • Provides oversight of patient care services and staff. Oversight includes making patient and staff assignments, coordinating patient care, coordinating referrals, including assessing appropriateness of providing services in the home setting, assuring that patient needs are continually assessed, and assuring the development, implementation, and updating of the individualized plan of care.
  • Provides excellent customer relations by maintaining open, timely communications with patients, associates, physicians, patients' primary referral facilities, and other community resources. Demonstrates a proactive approach for problem resolution.
  • Represents the Agency at Community and Professional functions and in community outreach efforts.
  • Works collaboratively with all MHHC leaders to improve patient experience and associate satisfaction.
  • Serves as a lead for local agency oversight and day-to-day operations including special project assignments.
  • Provides leadership and representation to meetings/committees in the absence of the AVP or Regional Director.
  • Collaborates with AVP or Regional and other Clinical Operations Managers to manage after-hours, weekend, and holiday calendars for the agency.
  • Responsible for collaboration, leadership, and oversight for agency metrics.
  • Leads annual flu clinics and other identified agency-specific initiatives and projects.
  • Mentors new Clinical Operations Managers. Provides a best-practice reference point for Operations colleagues post-orientation and ongoing thereafter.

  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Master's degree strongly preferred

    Experience

    • 1-2 years 2 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in home healthcare managing multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals required and
    • 1-2 years Experience in a Medstar Health home care operations Director role required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in Maryland/VA/District of Columbia (at least one of the jurisdictions are required) within 1 Year required or
    • PT - Physical Therapist either therapy/allied health license (in the outstanding jurisdictions) within 1 Year required or
    • Health Services\OT - Occupational Therapist - Registered either therapy/allied health license (in the outstanding jurisdictions) within 1 Year required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Extensive working knowledge of reimbursement and regulatory guidelines.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to apply sound principles of management and supervision.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills are essential.


    This position has a hiring range of $102,606 - $196,996
