General Summary of Position
MedStar Ambulatory Services is committed to providing world-class, compassionate care to every patient,every time, at every touch point. All associates are accountable for their role in meeting patient experience standards.Provides operational and project support to the Vice President, MedStar Ambulatory Services or designee.Responsible for the management of two or more multi-specialty sites and/or a MedStar Ambulatory Care Center. Leads project teams from multiple entities to implement ambulatory strategy and growth. Must have the ability to represent Ambulatory Senior Leadership in specified projects.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with strategic planning, business development and facilities leadership on the planning and development of new ambulatory sites including, but not limited to providing operational input, facilitating user group sessions, communicating progress to stakeholders and all other relevant activities.
  • Communicates with stakeholders across MedStar and other partner organizations on the performance of assigned ambulatory sites.
  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.
  • Develops and initiates external marketing plans for region by evaluating referral patterns and establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing referring physicians to improve patient access to services and promote visibility in our community.
  • Develops and monitors in partnership with Regional Medical Directors the physician schedule deployment to maximize patient access, ensure efficient use of practice resources to improve financial performance of the region.
  • Develops medical staff plans for new and existing ambulatory facilities. Works collaboratively with leadership of MedStar Medical Group and other partner entities to ensure medical staff resources for ambulatory sites are available as needed. Facilitates the integration of teams.
  • Directs and manages the daily operations of office/department programs and services or region by actively problem solving and communicating essential data to physicians, managers, and staff to assure services are effectively rendered in an efficient working environment.
  • Directs the financial performance of the region by developing, overseeing, and monitoring physician deployment, providing purchasing oversight, evaluating work RVU activity, developing regional budgets, and resolving budget variances to achieve best practice benchmarks and ensure operational viability.
  • Ensures facilities and equipment are maintained to provide a professional setting with fully functioning equipment for the patient care experience. Provides analysis and recommendations for capital equipment purchases and office expansions.
  • Establishes and maintains a regulatory/compliance environment by following organizational policy and procedures and ensures that mandatory training programs are effectively implemented to ensure compliance to state, local, and federal standards and regulations.
  • Leads inter-disciplinary performance improvement initiatives affecting multiple ambulatory sites.
  • Maintains current knowledge of health care issues, standards of practice, CPT/ICD-9 codes and professional group activities to facilitate effective planning/management.
  • Manages human resources of the offices in collaboration with the Human Resources Business Partner and Manager of Operations by reviewing and implementing organizational policies and procedures, analyzing and recommending efficient staffing strategies, and recommending and approving employee and managerial developmental plans.
  • Monitors patient satisfaction levels at clinical offices to ensure that all patient complaints are effectively handled to attain maximum patient satisfaction. When necessary, will act as a patient advocate to provide support to managers and resolve sensitive and/or escalated issues.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Participates in planning and budget process. Continuously monitors facilities performance against goals and presents progress on a monthly basis to division leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Represents multi-specialty centers on corporate-wide initiative including, but not limited to emergency preparedness, patient safety training and reporting, compliance and legal initiatives. Facilitates training and roll-out of new initiatives to multi-specialty management team and staff.
  • Responsible for multiple sites or MedStar Ambulatory Care Center with primary responsibility for budget adherence, retention of staff, patient satisfaction, community relations, physician recruitment and retention, new program implementation, innovation, integration of MedStar departments and overall growth of assigned facilities.
  • Supervises MAS Manager(s) of Operations, and provides guidance on matters related to the operations of the multi-specialty centers. Responsible for ongoing feedback, coaching and professional development of direct reports. Formulates, reviews and assists in the revision of policies and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Business/Health Administration required
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

    Experience

    • 5-7 years Management experience in a health care or managed care setting required and
    • Prior experience managing multiple clinical locations required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • No special certification, registration or license required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills:
    • knowledge of healthcare and CPT coding regulations required;
    • experience working with physicians preferred.


    This position has a hiring range of $111,779 - $212,513
