Position Summary The HR Director (HRD) oversees HRBP's and models all of the same competencies while developing and executing an entity's overall human resources strategy under the direction of the Assistant Vice President HR or Vice President of Human Resources. HRDs lead HR teams supporting a region or a number of locations. HRDs are responsible for building annual budgets and often have decision making authority to help shape policies and procedures. HRD's ensure the organization complies with federal, state, local, and industry labor and safety laws and policies. They will develop strategies and best practices to support the organizations long term strategic growth and establish a corporate culture that helps support the organizations business model. HR Directors generally supervise HRBP's and/or HRM's. The HRD functions as a strategic partner to the AVPHR and/or VPHR and senior leadership providing counsel and advice to the executive teams, entity president/s and board.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. • Oversees the alignment and implementation of entity Human Resources strategy at entity level, policies and procedures in accordance with the mission of the organization and in partnership with entity senior leadership. • Leads efforts or acts as liaison for all levels throughout the organization(s) on key operational initiatives such as associate engagement, retention, recruitment, diversity, inclusion and leadership development. • Supports HRBPs activity related to the development of entity-wide plans, goals, and objectives as a member of the senior leadership team and membership on various entity specific and corporate committees. Interfaces, coordinates activities and collaborates on decisions with key individuals within MedStar Health as needed. • Serves as a consultant to senior leaders on all Human Resources matters in conjunction with HRBP. • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with MSH policies and governmental/accreditation regulations. • Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal labor and employment laws and employee relations statutes and regulations. • Represents entity to outside government accreditation agencies on Human Resources issues. Maintains a viable presence in the community through participation in scheduled events and meetings with government officials and civic leaders. • Regularly participates in the development of System-wide plans, goals, and objectives as a member of the HR leadership team and membership on various entity specific and corporate committees. Interfaces, coordinates activities and collaborates on decisions with key individuals within MedStar Health as needed. • Assists in the training, orientation, and assignments of HR department staff. Evaluates and/or provides performance feedback on mid to lower-level HR associates. Makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with HR department staff to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information. Coaches, guides and mentors HR staff members. Provides leadership by example.
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required • Master's degree Preferred • 8-10 years in Human Resources required. Must have served in specialist roles such as HR Business Partner, Generalist, Employee Relations, etc required
This position has a hiring range of $131,497.60 - $256,630
