Job Summary:
MedStar Health is looking for an IR Patient Care Specialist to join our team.
The IR Patient Care Specialist provides patient care to an assigned group of patients, according to an established plan of care, under the direction and supervision of a nurse. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Primary Duties:
- Implements and contributes to patients' care plans under nurse direction, reporting findings and suggesting revisions as needed.
- Provides direct bedside care including ADLs, ambulation assistance, and patient transport via wheelchair or stretcher.
- Performs routine clinical procedures such as Foley and ostomy care, IV insertion, venipuncture, EKGs, and wound care per hospital policy.
- Maintains accurate documentation in medical records and helps ensure a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
- Supports communication systems, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and assists with patient/family education as directed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Program (CNA) (Required)
- One-year experience as a certified nursing assistant, or related health care experience in an acute care setting (Preferred)
- Ability to perform direct patient care technologies.
- Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to set priorities and work in a stressful environment.
Licenses/ Certifications:
- CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant in the District of Columbia (Preferred)
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days (Required)
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $28.73
