General Summary of Position
With expertise in organizational and employee communication and under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Research Communications, responsible for developing and managing internal communications and operational initiatives for the MedStar Health Research Institute.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the general direction of AVP, Research Communications, Marketing & PR, responsible for positively positioning system and Institute initiatives and managing communications with all internal audiences: leadership, management, associates, investigators, and other related internal audiences.
  • Assists in the development of departmental communications budgets, and in ongoing effectiveness measurement for communications programming.
  • Initiates and develops high quality communications tools (print and electronic) that deliver compelling content in line with strategic/operational communications priorities based on research and measurable outcomes.
  • Partners closely with executives and team leaders across the Research Institute to plan and execute complex internal communications processes that support MedStar Health strategy and Research Institute initiatives and ensure organizations message consistency and alignment across internal communication channels.
  • Provides staff support for the planning and execution of various associate events and meetings including Town Halls, Manager Meetings, senior management leadership series, corporate morale events and more.
  • Works with internal and external sources/vendors (photographers, designers, video crews, creative agencies, printers, décor, and caterers) to produce superior content and collaterals.
  • Serves as primary publications project manager for internal publications and intranet for the Research Institute related to system and academic initiatives; Serves as key contributor/writer for President and CSO, and other senior level executives on associate communications. Works with outside resources for copywriting and production of newsletters.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees, and represents the Research Institute and system in community outreach efforts as appropriate.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Management or related field). required

    Experience

    • 3-4 years communication, corporate internal communications, and/or program management experience. required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment. Business acumen and leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, internal departments, and external agencies. Working knowledge of various computer software applications.


    This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $152,027
