General Summary of Position
The Project Manager is responsible for leading, facilitating, and administratively supporting the activities, goals, and initiatives of the Quality & Safety department. Provides key support and project management functions to leaders, physicians, and associates. Oversees the fiscal and budgetary activities of the departments; provides administrative and personnel support. Coordinates quality and process improvement projects as they relate to quality and safety initiatives; organizes and supports patient safety related initiatives such as conferences, educational events, meetings and education initiatives; participates as a team member in a wide range of quality improvement/patient safety activities; ensures the provision of administrative support and the strategic planning and improvement needs of Center for Patient Safety; supports the Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer and AVP Quality, Safety and Practice Excellence, AVP Regulatory Affairs and Risk Management.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing complex Quality Improvement and Patient Safety transformational projects from inception through completion.
  • Create comprehensive project schedules, timelines, and work plans
  • Continually monitor the progress, status, deliverables, and financials of QI's portfolio of projects
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure that projects meet targets, budgets, and timelines
  • Forecast changes and communicate current and projected issues
  • Proactively engage teams / internal stakeholders in project priority-setting, implementation, and problem-solving issues and risks
  • Generate reports to update management on a regular basis about project progress and status
  • In collaboration with the Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer and Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Quality, Safety and Practice Excellence reviews, manages and assists in the preparation of the MedStar budget for QI/CPS/MSA. Provides monthly fiscal and budgetary reports to the AVP for as required/requested.
  • Collaborate with Director of Quality & Patient Safety, QI to create and maintain standardized QI project management processes, tools, plans, and templates
  • Coordinates with Quality Data Analysts and Quality Improvement Coordinators to track trends, analyze display data for reports, etc.
  • Contribute to the operations and infrastructure development of QI and support implementation of operational activities
  • Facilitate start up and close out activities for projects
  • Researches and implements innovative methodologies to address operational process redesign projects.
  • Identifies and secures resources needed for project teams.
  • Coordinates/leads the efforts of assigned project members in all project endeavors including the implementation and transition of ongoing support of assigned projects.
  • Facilitates and leads GO Team: Response to Serious Safety Events, review and action planning.
  • Coordinates/leads Patient & Family Advisory Council for Quality and Safety (PFACQS)
  • Coordinates training and programs for the Patient Communication Consult Service and Care for the Caregiver
  • Collaborates with Risk Management office to maintain appropriate quality and safety standards.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and is not considered to be all inclusive.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Master's degree in Public Health or Health Administration preferred and
    • consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of training and experience.

    Experience

    • 3-4 years Three to five years of progressively responsible administration experience preferably in a health care setting. required
    • Previous project management and budgetary management preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Upon Hire preferred

    This position has a hiring range of $77,480 - $131,310
