General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Analytics Engineering to join our dynamic Analytics Resource Center team, MSH ARC. In this highly visible role, you will be leading our Enterprise Analytics - Analytics Engineering team that is responsible for developing and delivering the production of data products in the forms of: dashboards, reports, analyses, distributable data sets and models. Ensures that data products solve the problem for which they were designed, elicits a positive enabled response, drives positive community usage and behaviors, while defining, advocating, and evangelizing the utilization of best practices to MSH's MAP Community of Practice. Acts as a lead interfacing leader that interfaces with key stakeholders on a regular basis to identify emerging needs and prioritizing work efforts, while taking a hands-on role in leading a team that has multiple complex projects that require input from multiple domains to establish ways for bringing value realization to life and change management efforts. The Analytics Engineering team's curation of data products must provide thought leadership in a hybrid model that is sustained by a governed framework that promotes the utilization of self-service opportunities and advancing data fluency. Works with other key leaders within MSH's ARC, MAP Community of Practice, Performance Improvement & Analytics, and other key executive leaders to drive MSH's enterprise data and analytics strategy across its care continuum. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with business, technical, clinical, and operational experts, to develop and implement a comprehensive data and analytics engineering & enablement strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and strategic goals. Continuously evaluates and enhances analytics engineering practices to drive innovation, collaboration, and partnership with bustiness customers.
  • Operational Excellence: Actively provides oversight to MSH's ARC - Analytics Engineering consulting arm that handles a bulk load of the Enterprise Analytics teams development of data products. Consistently works with MAP CoP, PI&A and other analytics team to implement and consistently advance the operations of the Analytics Delivery function. The Analytics Delivery life cycle should consistently strive for operational excellence that improves customer experience, value realization, internal collaboration, and development processes.
  • Drive & Facility Data-Driven Decision-Making: Equips MSH's MAP CoP and Business Customers with data products that ensure timely well-informed decision-making capabilities. Collaborates with internal PI&A and external stakeholders for continuous improvement in effort to advance MSH's mission and vision.
  • Enterprise Execution: Takes operational committee decisions, translates them into projects and work plans, and ensures their implementation. Actively interacts with MSH's MAP Community of Practice & ARC Business Customers to drive engagement, identify areas for improvement for ARC and awareness on key communications to the MAP CoP.
  • Initiative: Owns the full cycle of analytics engineering consulting deliverable - ideation, data modeling, data mining, analysis, insight generation and delivery of information and recommendation to stakeholders. Ensures the successful development and implementation abides by data governance and enablement best practices.
  • Oversees Data Product Development & Execution
  • Key Areas Focus Areas: Analytics Demand Management, Analytics Engineering & Data Product Development, Data Product Life Cycle Management, Self-Service Analytics Adoption, Enterprise Data & Analytics Consulting Engagement, Dashboard & Report Development, Strategic Analysis Development, PI&A Operating Model Development & Deployment.
  • Oversees and evaluates data quality management, data privacy and security, data analytics, data ethics, data stewardship, data catalog and metadata management, and vendor and third-party oversight.
  • Thought Partnership: Stays abreast of industry trends and best practices. Recommends initiatives to enhance the organization's Performance Improvement and Enterprise Analytics strategies. Works with key PI&A department leaders & analytics partners among the MAP Community of Practice to drive transformational thought and change management leadership. Mentors Analytic Engineers to strive for consistent collaboration, partnership and innovation in domains that are being supported.
  • Department Unification: Works with key Performance Improvement & Analytics department leaders to identify and implement changes to improve the unification of the PI&A departments operations, alignment, and impact on the care continuum. Acts as a change leader, thought leader and evangelizer to positively contribute to the PI&A department.
  • Relationship Building: Establishes credibility and trust with key MAP Community of Practice leaders and other leaders in areas such as: Information Technology, Finance, Operations, Quality & Safety, MMG MI2, Legal, Compliance, Supply Chain, MHRI, and other key areas.
  • Facilitates Decision-Making: Defines policy decisions to be made, identifies relevant stakeholders and their roles in decision-making, ensures a shared understanding of the issues, and holds group accountable for timely decisions. Promotes collaboration and drives consensus.
  • Oversees Execution: Monitors the development, implementation and adoption of data products developed by the team along with other key local domain analytics programmatic efforts.
  • Reporting and Monitoring: Creates and maintains data products that provide visibility into the key domain areas that team analytics managers sustain in the form of dashboards, report, data sets, analyses, and models. Data products shall drive opportunity identification and value realization on the MSH care continuum.
  • People Management: Leads and develops high-performing analytics engineering team, fostering a positive work culture and innovative environment that attracts and retains top talent.
  • Community of Practice Contribution: Works with the Data Governance & Enablement team to collaborate and contribute to the development of a high-performing and engaging MAP Community of Practice that fosters a positive, innovative, and continuous learning analytics culture.
  • Drive Realized Value: Leads and develops an Analytics Engineering team that drives for consistent value-realization within scope of the Performance Improvement & Analytics departments quadruple aim measures that improve clinical, operational, and financial performance.
  • Stakeholder Education and Training: Collaborates with the Data Governance & Enablement team to contribute and advocate for core best practices in data product development that positively impact the MAP CoP, while identifying ways to drive better self-service user adoption among The MAP Business Customer community.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Experience

    • 5-7 years Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data analytics or roles in the health care industry. required and
    • 3-4 years Direct experience with E.H.R. Data & Analytics product suites - Epic, Oracle Health, AthenaFlow/IDX, etc.. preferred
    • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Understanding of Enterprise Data Governance including Metadata Management, Data Quality and other core components.
    • Ability to manage hybrid and fully remote resources, while prioritizing team deliverables in enterprise initiatives.
    • An in-depth understanding of analytical/data product solution development frameworks and processes.
    • Familiarity with Enterprise Data Warehouse architectures and hybrid cloud strategies.


    This position has a hiring range of $131,497 - $256,630
