General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Sterile Processing Manager to join our team at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital!

A Sterile Processing Manager manages the activities of the hospital's Sterile Processing Department personnel regarding preparation, packaging, handling, decontamination, sterilization, stocking, and delivery of sterile and non-sterile supplies, instrumentation and equipment. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.

Primary Duties:  
Leads department staffing and performance management, including hiring, training, evaluations, counseling, and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR and leadership. 
Oversees departmental operations such as budget development, inventory control, sterilization procedures, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. 
Ensures high-quality patient care support through efficient equipment and instrument management, timely case cart delivery, and collaboration with key departments. 
Drives continuous improvement by conducting team meetings, in-services, staff development, and participating in quality and safety initiatives. 
Represents the department through committee involvement, community outreach, and active engagement in organizational goals and service excellence standards. 

Qualifications:  
Bachelor's in a healthcare related field (Preferred)  
3-4 years Supervisory experience in sterile processing or equivalent sterile processing technician experience; (Required) 
One year of relevant professional experience level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education. 
Experience with sterilizers, surgical instruments, medical supplies, and preparation of various trays of instruments for surgical procedures. (Required) 
CRCST - Certified and Registered Central Service Technician certification (Required) or 
CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification (Required) 


 


This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $152,027
