Find your calling at Mercy! The Autism Resource Specialist (ARS) will report to the Program Supervisor and work closely with Autism Navigator. The ARS will engage with families accessing services within the Mercy Kids Autism Center (MKAC). This includes, but is not limited to, assisting families with intake for evaluation, communication with families whose children have been recently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, collaboration with community providers to share service information with MKAC providers and families. This is a Full Time position Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm no weekends, calls, or major holidays
Overview:
The Autism Resource Specialist will report to the Program Supervisor and work closely with Autism Navigator. The ARS will engage with families accessing services within the Mercy Kids Autism Center. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting families with intake for evaluation, communication with families whose children have been recently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, collaboration with community providers to share service information with providers and families.
The Autism Resource Specialist will:
• Engage families in service and treatment planning
• Conduct follow up calls to families receiving a new diagnosis of ASD
• Maintain print materials from community providers to facilitating referral information
• Engage in high level communication with multidisciplinary team of diagnostic providers
• Maintain accurate documentation of service planning
• Develop department print material regarding services provided within MKAC
• Identify and support families needing assistance with intake process (including, but not limited to 1:1 facilitation with non-English speaking caregivers)
Minimum Requirements:
Education: A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. Master's degree preferred. Preferred areas of study in human services including social work, education, psychology, community health, or related field and a minimum of 1-year direct care experience.
Preferred experience: familiarity with special education systems, behavioral health, developmental disabilities, case management, accessing applied behavior analysis, child development, working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, use of electronic health record and Microsoft Office, strong written and verbal communication skills.
