Location: Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City

Shift: Full Time (40 hours/week) 

Overview:

Under the supervision of the surgeon, The Surgical Tech First Assist is a role which provides additional assistance to the surgeon in the Operating Room over and above that normally provided. As defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), surgical assistants provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other interoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safer operation with optimal results for the patient. In addition, the CSFA may perform in the role of the Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and guiding principles.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent AND successful completion of a postsecondary certificate or associate degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program are required. You may be asked to provide proof of education.

  • Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist required (CST). Certified First Assistant preferred (CFA) if not must be completed within one year of hire.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years Surgical Technologist scrub experience. Previous CST-FA experience preferred.

  • Licensure: Surgical Technology experience or Graduate with a Degree in Surgical Technology or completion certification from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.

  • Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law
