Overview:
The Radiation Dosimetrist Assistant is responsible for routine technical work in Radiation Oncology treatment planning, with a focus on continuous training and enhancement across treatment planning disciplines. This role requires the ability to develop routine radiotherapy treatment plans using 3D medical images (CT, MRI, PET). The assistant will also conduct ancillary dosimetry tasks, including duties in the block/mold room and patient billing workflow management. Initially supervised closely, the assistant will progress towards limited supervision by Radiation Dosimetrists and/or Radiation Physicists for student appropriate tasks. Development of advanced dosimetry skills and independence within the role is expected. This position reports to the Radiation Oncology Manager, receiving work direction and technical evaluation from the Medical Dosimetrists on staff.
Qualifications:
- Experience: RT (R) (RT) with a minimum of 12 months of radiotherapy experience.
- Required Education: Graduate from a JRCERT accredited program in Radiation Therapy and be currently enrolled in a JRCERT accredited program in Medical Dosimetry.
- Certifications: RT (T), RT (R) (MR), RT (R) (CT), or RT (R) (RT) required; 24 continuing education hours in two years to maintain ARRT registration.
