Overview:

 

The Drug Diversion Specialist (Diversion Specialist) provides support for the daily operations of the Drug Diversion Prevention Program. The Diversion Specialist participates in all aspects of the drug diversion program including education, prevention, monitoring, investigations, and reporting. Key functions of this position are to independently perform medication compliance audits and present the results back to the managers of pharmacy and other departments. Diversion Specialists will also conduct on-site compliance inspections. He or she will frequently interact with managers and other coworkers. Major infractions concerning controlled substances or patient safety will be communicated immediately to their supervisor and to the appropriate facility manager(s) so action can be promptly taken to resolve the issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licensure: State pharmacy technician license/registration
  • Experience: 2 or more years pharmacy technician experience with preferred experience in medication auditing, investigations or related experience. Preferred experience in drug diversion prevention processes.
  • Certifications: He or she must be registered in good standing with the board of pharmacy as a pharmacy technician in the states in which they serve as a diversion specialist. National pharmacy technician certification is required within 1 year.
  • Equipment Used: Office equipment (Fax machine, copy machine, personal computer, calculator, etc.)
