Overview:

  This role is responsible for providing classroom and/or clinical instruction to students.  

Job Description:

 

•    Create an effective learning environment for student-centered learning.
•    Teach courses consistent with the catalog description and program curriculum map.
•    Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place and meets required contact hours.
•    Teach students using appropriate methodologies to facilitate quality student classroom, laboratory and/or clinical learning experiences.
•    Develop and provides student resources for the course in the learning management system including unit subject matter materials, grading scales, rubrics, student learning outcomes in relation to specific classroom subjects and test items. 
•    Facilitate critical reflection and supports innovation in students. 
•    Provide timely feedback and fairly evaluates students' progress.
•    Evaluate student clinical, laboratory, and classroom performance and provides individual counsel and guidance as necessary to promote student success. 
•    Integrate evidence-based practice in fulfilling all roles of instructional practice.
•    Collaborate with colleagues for instructional improvement via professional peer review. 
•    Propose plans to improve the course and course delivery for improved students' performance. 
•    Ensure a comprehensive, data-driven approach to student success that builds on best-practices in higher education. 
•    Foster cooperation and communication between students, faculty, and administrative colleagues to promote strategies for new student enrollments, retention, progression, and graduation.
•    Maintain effective communication both verbally, in writing, and electronically with students, faculty, clinical agencies, and health care professionals for use in program research, assessment of students' performance, coordination of clinical educational experiences, and overall effectiveness of department.
•    Submit reports and requests for information promptly and within guidelines and time constraints.
•    Maintain appropriate records such as clinical/laboratory evaluations, test scores, anecdotal notes documenting student progress. 
•    Assist and effectively communicates with the Program Director.
•    Provide input into budget planning. 
•    Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities.
•    Actively supports and attends College-wide events.
•    Serve on committees as assigned or invited.  
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:
•    Graduate of an accredited school with an approved school of nursing.
•    MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) obtained or plan in progress and completion within five years from date of hire.
Licensure/Certification:
•    RN (Registered Nurse)
Experience:
•    2 years' experience in the discipline with progressively more responsible experience with professional procedures.
Licensure/Certification:
•    BLS (Basic Life Support)
