Overview:
Regional Executive Director of Reimbursement for Mercy Health (Mercy) is responsible for the direction and oversight of reimbursement activities related to specific communities within Mercy. This position will have supervisory responsibilities of the manager and reimbursement specialists in their communities. The Regional Director will assist the Vice President Reimbursement in facilitating the effective strategies and/or processes associated with third party governmental reimbursement and net revenue integrity and enhancement. This position oversees the activities associated with required governmental filings and reimbursement analyses. Strong command of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and communication skills with peers as well as senior leaders in the organization are key to success in this role. A candidate must have the ability and willingness to work with others both internal and external to the organization to address the complex needs of a multi-state $10 billion dollar health system.
Facilitate the monthly analysis of third-party reserve position. Serve as the contact for the external auditor's review of third-party reserves. Partner with the regional and central finance teams to integrate reimbursement rates in forecast and actual results. Communicate risks and opportunities to financial leadership resulting from audits, regulatory change, or other industry awareness. Prepare and/or facilitate the completion of all assigned regional cost reports and other regulatory filings in accordance with requirements. Maintain professional working relationships with MAC and other auditing bodies. Direct and resolve audit requests and findings. Keep contemporary with all governmental regulations and identify opportunities for Mercy to compliantly enhance reimbursement. Support leadership with Mercy wide impact for regulatory changes. Review and provide comments on all major CMS proposed and final rules. Support other Mercy initiatives including regulatory compliance efforts, local pricing initiatives, administrative decision making and related reimbursement impacts, 340B program, revenue cycle projects with reimbursement impact, and strategic reimbursement initiatives. Coordinate hospital enrollment with Medicare and Medicaid.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years in healthcare reimbursement leadership role
- Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related finance field
- Other: CPA or other advanced credentials preferred
