Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Nurse Educator to lead educational initiatives for our Surgical & Orthopedic Care Unit. What You'll Do
As the Clinical Nurse Educator, you will:
- Develop and implement onboarding, orientation, competency, and continuing education programs for licensed and unlicensed coworkers.
- Create evidence-based educational curricula aligned with Mercy's Nursing Professional Practice Model, patient experience initiatives, and organizational goals.
- Coordinate orientation schedules and maintain education and competency records.
- Utilize adult learning principles through simulation, mock events, case studies, and virtual or in-person learning opportunities.
- Foster a positive learning environment that promotes critical thinking and clinical excellence.
- Partner with leadership to identify performance gaps and develop educational action plans.
- Support nurse residency programs, professional development, and academic partnerships.
- Serve as a mentor, preceptor, coach, and role model for nursing staff.
- Lead and support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Maintain expertise in EMR systems, learning management systems, Microsoft Office, and patient care technologies.
- Educate staff on HIPAA, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) with at least 2 years of clinical nursing experience
OR
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with:
- 10 years of hospital nursing experience, or
- 5 years of hospital nursing experience and active enrollment in an RN-to-BSN program
Required
- Current RN license
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practice
- Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare technology
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty nursing certification or progress toward certification
- Minimum 2 years of teaching, precepting, or clinical education experience
- Additional certifications such as:
- ACLS
- PALS
- NRP
- STABLE
- TNCC
- ENPC
