Overview:

The Medical/Surgical Intensive Care unit is a 24-bed, mixed population critical care department that serves a multitude of patient populations. Service lines included Cardiovascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Medical, and Trauma Surgery. Nurses provide highly specialized care, including management of various treatment modalities including, but not limited to: Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Left Ventricular Assist Device (Impella), Therapeutic Hypothermia, Intraventricular Device and Intracranial Pressure monitoring, and Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy.

The ICU has a unit-specific educator, along with clinical supervisors and clinical coordinators, to facilitate these learning opportunities and serve as a resource to aide in real-time education and competency validation. The variation of acuity creates a nursing landscape prime for growth of both knowledge and skill set.  

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of one year ICU experience is preferred
  • Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
  • License: current RN license in our state
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, NIH within 60 days of hire and annually. ASLS education must be performed within 6 months of hire and a minimum of every two years.
