Overview: Responsible for the overall monitoring of the Trauma Registry. Serves as a resource person for the Trauma Registrar staff. Assures that timely and accurate reporting of Trauma Service information to the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and ACS occurs. Obtain, extract, manipulate and analyze data from various internal and external sources and will be responsible for submission of reliable data into a database. Responsible for all ongoing Performance Improvement Projects. Participation in analysis of PI data and interpretation of trends. Responsible for all regular monthly trauma reports as well as for the development/ modification of other reports as requested. Monitors/confirms the accuracy of the data entered into the Trauma Registry by chart reviews and reports. Ensure all PI follow up is completed. Assists with identifying and preparing trauma PI data for Trauma Department meetings. Promotes a multi-disciplinary team approach to trauma care. Compares and monitors annually our performance/quality indicators to National Standards/Benchmarks. Maintains current knowledge of trauma care. Assists the Outreach/Injury Prevention Coordinator by providing statistical data from the Trauma Registry as requested. Functions as a resource/contact between the Trauma Department and Quality department regarding Trauma Specific Data and Performance Improvement Projects. Responsible to maintain a process to track the status of any quality issues identified. Including those cases that are referred to other specialty physicians for review and follow up. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Documented continuing education in trauma nursing in last two years.
- Current Missouri Registered Nurse License.
- CEN, CCRN, CFRN, TNS or TCRN required or obtained within first year
- Experience preferred in Trauma Registry or the trauma system at the community, state, or national level. Previous Emergency or Critical Care nursing experience required.
- Strong communication, collaboration and team building skills, including preparing reports and analysis for a variety of audiences.
- Ability to communicate/interface effectively with customers of multiple levels of education and professional responsibility (i.e. administrators, physicians, and other clinical staff).
- Ability to plan, organize and implement program activities and to prioritize projects.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Previous experience with hospital quality management/QI programs preferred
- ATCN, TNCC instructor preferred or willing to obtain
