Job Description:
Position Summary
The Clinical Educator, Behavioral Health reports directly to the Nursing Clinical Education Manager. (S)he is responsible for providing formal and informal education programs for the staff of Behavioral Health Services and Ohana with planning assistance from the Management Team of the respective departments. The Clinical Educator possesses a broad scope of knowledge and skills to facilitate improved patient outcomes and improved staff performance in the clinical setting. The Clinical Educator possesses the skills and knowledge to competently provide the appropriate services to patients and staff.
Under guidance of Nursing Clinical Education Department leadership, the Behavioral Health Clinical Educator supports the strategic learning needs of the organization. The Clinical Educator assesses performance gaps, designs learning activities using a wide variety of evidence-based instructional methods and evaluates program impact using metrics of importance to the organization. The Clinical Educator designs and/or facilitates service line specific learning programs and also participates with various department initiatives and house-wide learning programs. Roles and responsibilities are guided by the Nursing Professional Development Practice model and include duties such as onboarding and orientation, competency management, design and facilitation of role development programs, and provision of continuing education through competent learning facilitation. Success in this role requires the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders internal and external to the organization, embrace and facilitate change, and champion a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice.

Experience
REQUIRED: Previous experience with the facilitation of learning, as an educator, preceptor, or similar role. At least 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience (within last 4 years) in alignment with clinical focus of the role.
DESIRED: Instructional design skills; experience with the evaluation of learning.
Education
BSN required; MSN preferred.
Licensure/Certifications
- State of California RN license required.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS (required)
- Related specialty certification within one year (e.g., PMH-BC or NPD
